The Government has declared the first Friday of every month an official Batakari Friday. Batakari is the traditional attire of the people of the north. This initiative according to sources is to boost the patronage of made-in-Ghana goods, promote the attire internationally and finally to widen its reach.

The smock is made of handloomed strips of Kente fabric that are three to four inches in width. Wearing Batakari can't be boring after all because these style inspirations are just perfect. Do you own a batakari? Are you ready to embrace the new challenge of wearing it on the first Friday of each month? Why don't you send in some photos when you can and I will gladly repost.
