GHANA FASHION AND DESIGN WEEK :(reviews ,photos and videos)

The much awaited Ghana Fashion and design week took off with what one would describe as a slow start. Apart from the seminar I missed... I had the opportunity to witness the runway show from start to finish, though it started hours after the proposed time. The First part of the event was   opened by stunning models in beautiful designs by love April (UK) followed by spectacular bridal gowns by Rebekah Opuni (UK) and Kachi designs (Nigeria). Sarah Duah, a German based designer, caught my attention with her hair fusion collection which had models covered in fur from their hair down. I must admit as fascinating as they were, the designs did not look like designs a Ghanaian would like to wear at all times considering our kind of weather  and other factors but that was just pure creativity .
Just when the excitement was dying down, Duaba Serwaa collection attracted the audience with her elegant and exquisite designs made out of very vibrant colours. In my opinion she nailed the show .Orange culture started the second part of the event with very fierce and head turning designs dominated by "hot" orange  coloured fabrics for men and sophisticated yellow fused with some lovely patterns of the African prints. . Maria Mia then took over with what I termed as "the Celestial" runway show- her collection for the show were so calm, peaceful and serene with a touch of white.  Confidence Haugen was next to grace the runaway with a display of shoes and purses from her maiden collection "confidence". Jil boutique closed the show for the day with some exquisite designs.
