Hello readers , this post is dedicated to knowing your skin types and how to handle it. it was put together by one of my favorite Make up Artist Valerie Lawson of contours Make-Up. I hope it answers so many questions on your mind.
NORMAL SKIN
Normal skin is characterized by soft,
smooth and supple skin and has an even tone and texture and pores are small. It
is best kept that way with light cleansers, lotions and mild toners.
WHAT TO DO
Find a routine that works and stick
with it. Use a cleanser and moisturizer daily and exfoliate at least twice a
week, to prevent buildup of dead skin cells
WHAT NOT TO DO
PLEASE do NOT attempt bleaching the
skin.
OILY SKIN
Skin becomes shiny and greasy
throughout the day and pores are visibly large these are prone to blackheads,
accompanied by a shine on the face.
WHAT TO DO
Use cleansers with salicylic acid, to
unclog the pores and reduce oil production and don’t skimp on moisturizer- your
skin is producing oil because it isn’t properly hydrated. Select an oil free
one. Aim to restore the skin’s pH balance so that the sebaceous glands reduce
its production of sebum
WHAT NOT TO DO
Avoid products with alcohol to reduce
the oiliness of the skin.. Egg white makes a mild face mask to help tighten
pores and to smoothen the coarse texture of the skin. THE ICE CUBE treatment Is
also a great one, before wearing makeup. Fill a cotton material or cloth with ice cubes and gently pass it over the face to close the pores (only done after
bathing and proper moisturizing) before makeup is applied.
DRY SKIN
Skin feels tight and rough and
sometimes turns flaky and red from irritations and prone to fine lines,
encouraging us to slap on an outrageous amount of rich and greasy creams in an
attempt to add some much needed moisture to the skin.
WHAT TO DO
Soothe and nourish skin with a face
cleanser that has hydrating oils. Such as coconut oil I highly recommend this,
and you can call to order yours on the link below.
WHAT NOT TO DO
Over scrubbing is a no no for dry
skin. Do not use too much scrubbing washes on dry skin because the dry skin
sheds off naturally and frequently. Scrubbing should NOT be eliminated, but
should be done at most, twice a week. Instead a deep pore steam treatment can
be done on the regular to open pores after the face has been washed at night.
In summary, please don’t attempt
bleaching with any type of skin. It exposes us to the sun more and hence does
more harm than good.
Any questions or suggestions are welcomed.
