Meet Nelly Behind The Brand Cheveaux De Nelly.

Miss Chanel Asafo-Agyei, best known as Nelly is a second year Business Management (with Travel and Tourism) student of the Greenwich School of Management, located in Greenwich, London. At the age of twenty (20), the young British born of Ghanaian descent is currently on the spotlight with a rising fame within the African and Caribbean communities in London and other parts of the United Kingdom for an unusual reason, hair pieces!

Nelly is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the hair company Cheveux De Nelly, which is translated into English as Hair By Nelly. She is currently one of the most popular hair companies amongst African and Caribbean youth and other young adults. As if juggling her studies and her hair company isn’t enough, Nelly works part time in a clothing store, H&M.

Why Cheveux De Nelly?  “I wanted a name that was going to be unique and different from the other hair companies around. Though I loved the name Hair By Nelly, that was going to be very regular so I translated it into French and that was how I came by the name of the company”.

What was the motivation for starting your brand? “From a very tender age I learnt that one of the key elements that makes a lady presentable is her hair, as a result I have been very particular about my hair. I always received great compliments about my hair and realized the possibility of making a business out of hairpieces noticing the ridiculous prices of some of the hairpieces selling on the market. Besides, my hair pieces are of high quality”.

What type of her pieces do you sell? The range of hair pieces sold by Cheveux De Nelly include Brazilian, Peruvian & Malaysian, Mongolian & Cambodian, Brazilian & Peruvian (free style lace closure, middle parting closure, 3 part closure and silk closure) which costs between 30-80 pounds.

With her clientele base now growing beyond the United Kingdom, Cheveux De Nelly now ships hair pieces to clients in several European countries, the United States of America, Jamaica, Nigeria and Ghana.

What are the prospects for Cheveaux De Nelly “At the moment, I am learning the rudiments of making it big on the international market and I see my hair brand making waves globally, from New York to South Africa in the next five (5) years.
