I have been drooling over a lot of African print inspired Tshirts lately. They seem to be the new cool thing for me and frankly i don't know why. “REFLECTIONS SS 14 collection was inspired by the nature and cracks from a broken mirror. And it led us to create our first print fabric design.

 

“ As we seek perfection we often fail to see that perfection is a mirage in the distortion of imperfections. Humans are as flawed as the pieces of a broken mirror, but in our little pieces of brokenness we are beautiful.’

 

The collection is effortlessly feminine with bold and colorful print patterns. The broken effects of the print and feminine silhouettes symbolize the journey every woman makes in perfecting herself and learning who she really is. We love and celebrate the curves of a woman and every piece adorns and tells a story of the Ameyo woman in a different way. Although mostly dresses the collection has different style lines that we hope will appeal and excites to every kind of woman.”

Glitz Africa Fashion Week day1: Ajepomaa Design Gallery

Ghanaian Fashion brand Ajepomaa Design Gallery showcased her latest collection "TROKOSI" on the runway of Glitz Africa fashion week. The collection is taken inspiration from 'THE TROKOSI BRIDE' the virgin young brides of the gods! The contrast of ones wedding day being the happiest day of ones life but it turns out into dark enslavement for the rest of these young girls lives. Coming from a strong Christian background we are totally Fascinated by this ritual servitude.The colors mainly used in this collection is mainly white. This for the brides represents the purity of the young girls, the black represents their dark eternal future and red represents strength of a woman. The jade is infused in the collection as a highlight trendy color for the holiday season. The glass beads and suede tassel detail is added to some of the pieces to emphasize the ethnic elements of their environment which is mainly the fon(Benin), Togo and Volta(Ghana).

In love with Kayobi

 Step aside,I wonder why I am always quick to fall in love well; if it’s lovely it should be loved. Last week I posted in twitter about finding funky tees to wear to Chalewote street Art festival 2013 at James town which comes off on the 7^th and 8^th September. I posted on both Twitter (@dje_djelyn) and Facebook and behold I got some wonderful people who would also want to rock some tees to the event. This morning Kayobi followed me on instagram and as usual had to scroll through his photos and there! I found it. Exactly what I was looking for, Tees that carry messages and is funky.

The brand “KAYOBI”

Kayobi means Tuesday in Japanese, which represents the name of the founder Kwabena (male child born on Tuesday ) Oppong Boateng. The clothing line was founded on the 8^th of August 2008 (08/08/08) and has gradually evolved from a t-shirt line to include bags and cases hand printed in Accra Ghana. Messages inscribed on the t-shirts ranges from socio-political issues to music, culture tradition and food.
