AFROVOLF X KIMONO - WEEKEND STYLE

Thank God its Friday! Like i promised here's my style for the weekend. For today's look I decided to go all black with a touch of yellow.I received this yellow Kimono for free from the Afro Centric urban clothing and design brand Afro Volf.

Kimono is a Traditional Japanese garment, the word "Kimono" actually means a"thing to wear". I love how this Kimono acts as the perfect cover up. Its very comfortable and can be styled in so many different ways I must add finally its very affordable. I got these shades at Oxford Street Osu, for a good price.

This Side of the office is my relaxation spot. I always take a quick break whenever I'm stressed out.

Laid back Friday, how I wish my weekend was same. Looking forward to a very packed weekend unavoidable quick naps during my crazy weekend schedules is assured.

Why are weekends so short? Is it true they were made in china?lol have a good weekend guys and thanks for stopping by.

Profile: Annette Akye of BeautiqueGh

Name: Antoinette Akye

Company Name: Beautique

Business Type: Make up and Hairstyling

Created:

Location: Mobile Service

Instagram: @BeautiqueGhana

Annette has been the beauty industry for over a year now, she got into it through experimentation and blogging. Experimentation because she was curious to know more about makeup, Annette was always intrigued about her mom red lips which she wears everyday by the way, she was thus influenced to learn more about the art. Unfortunately, she had absolutely no idea about makeup although was fascinated about it. Annette did more research about beauty in general then followed the desire to share her beauty secrets with the Ghanaian lady through her blog, NaturalistaGh. People started seeing makeup she did on herself and always asked what she had in mind for such a talent. On her return to Ghana after studies abroad, she was goaded into offering her talent to the Ghanaian woman. Beautique, coined after beauty boutique, was born soon after.

To her being in the beauty industry is more like fulfilling that desire to ensure that a woman is looking her best, be it everyday or on that special day. The warm, fuzzy, gushing feeling that comes with seeing a woman "oohing"and "aahing" over her reflection in the mirror after skillfully enhancing her beautiful features is what drives her to work hard in the industry. She has had the opportunity to bedazzle ladies into brides, has participate in fashion shows as a MUA etc.

Annette has an Msc in Environmental management and is currently on internship at the Environmental Protection Agency. She works on beautique over the weekend.
She is inspired by Inna Patty quote  "beauty is like an ore, raw and unattractive. But as soon as the ore is refined into a precious metal or stone, it becomes more attractive and valuable

Model Spotlight: Innocentia Yebuah

We absolutely love our models in Ghana , that's why we work hard to bring you up close of personal stories from them. Their job may sound glamorous but sometimes its not how it sound. We had an interview with Innocentia Yebuah a young and beautiful  Ghanian model . We hope you enjoy reading  and if you have any questions for her, kindly drop it below in
the comments section.

TnBGh:  How long have you been in the Modeling industry?

MissIno: My first fashion show was in 2011(Vlisco fashion show), but I been actively involved for almost 2 years now.

TnBGh: Is it your full time profession and would you describe it as a lucrative venture in Ghana?

MissIno: No. I’m a student, and then, a model. I definitely don’t think that I can make a decent living off what I earn. At 21 yrs with no professional experience and excluding my basic day-to-day needs, yes it makes pretty decent extra money to put away (or in other cases buy Brazilian hair). I do think that it does open doors if you’re adequately prepared. The people you meet, contacts you make, experiences you have, that’s priceless.

TnBGh: Take us down memory lane, how did it all start for you?

MissIno: I’d been considering it for a while as I got more and more drawn to fashion. I went to a fashion designer, Brigitte Merki who was making a garment for me then. She recommended that I go to an open casting as she saw my interest and perhaps raw talent. I did and voila! I landed my first show.

TnBGh: In every venture there are challenges, have you faced any and share with us how you have overcome such challenges.

MissIno: My first challenge, which I think is even more widespread in the mainstream modeling industry, was trying to fit in and get noticed. The industry is such a tightly knit one that it is very difficult to break in. That in my opinion is not necessarily a total disadvantage as there are many girls who see it as a quick means to fame, a passing obsession. Again there are several models that in my opinion are way too old to model. They use their contacts to get jobs, which should rather be given to newer fresher faces. That’s what’s made the Milan, Paris, New York and London fashion weeks what they are, fresh faces. Naomi, Cindy Crawford, Linda Evangelista and Tyra are not on every catwalk nowadays, for a reason. My final and perhaps the most ridiculous is the perception that people have about models. Yes it’s true that many are ignorant uneducated disguised prostitutes but people have to know how to decipher between those who are and those who aren’t.

TnBGh: Share with us some of your most treasured and unforgettable experiences since you begun.

MissIno: Being actively and closely involved with the first ever Ghana Fashion and Design Week would be my most treasured experience. It felt like being part of something really special.

TnBGh:  What is your take on nudity in modeling?

MissIno: Honestly, I’m not a fan of nudity in general because of my personal beliefs but I do appreciate all art forms that execute concepts using nudity tastefully. If it is the only way to effectively carry across the message, that’s fine, although there are usually other ways. It’s a matter of choice.

TnBGh: So many Agencies are springing up, do u think these modeling agencies are serving their rightful purpose in this country?

MissIno: I started out without going to an agency to spend 14-18hours every week cat walking barefoot. Yes you do need to learn certain things and get the right jobs but most of these agencies only cheat the models and never provide good jobs and build castles in the air for girls who don’t have the tiniest bit of talent or features for modeling. Plus, many designers still pick the old over-aged models and their friends or family members who look good in clothes to model.

TnBGh:  In a sentence, share with us anything you would want our readers to be aware of?

MissIno: Modeling should never be your only dream. Many of the supermodels we know now were discovered by chance, by serious talent scouts in unsuspecting situations. They were not running around from one agency to the other trying following empty promises. If you have it, you have it.

I'm thinking NUDE !!

Going easy on colours and shades but I'm in love with the Nude
I have been thinking about re arranging my wardrobe by blending it with vibrant Colours a shade of yellow and green and a little red is my next target .
One shade I however can't let go is Nude. Don't worry, it doesn't mean I want to go around town topless or have some nude photo-shoot lol ,not that kind of nude.hold on I'm talking about a shade very natural ,laid back like cream or caramel . Other websites define the shade as "neutral ,showing flesh" whiles others define it as a soft whisper. I will define it as a bit of calmness and vulnerability that respects your skin tone. It can help to tone down or tone up your costume , which ever way is just perfect.
At the moment the only nude shade I own is my nude sleek lipgloss which is almost empty. I'm in love with this shade therefore working towards getting some skirt, top, accessories, shoes of that shade .want to surprise me ? Just get me something of that shade dear friends.i will be waiting .

Feeling the shade nude too? Got anything nude in your wardrobe?share with me via comments .
Xoxo

Enjoy your day

JOYCELYN :a model and beauty Queen from Ghana

I love the modelling world and everything it has to offer, spent some time looking for very interesting stories from our own models here in Ghana.
20 year old Joycelyn rocks the runway every time shes on it. but wait ,that's not the only thing she does.I spent some time to know more about this young lady and i thought you should  know more about her too. enjoy the first phase of her interview.

Tnbgh: Tell us about yourself?
Joycelyn: My name is Joycelyn Afia Aduakye, 20 years old, a student of Ghana Telecom University studying Bsc. Telecom Engineering.
Tnbgh: What drove you into auditioning for Miss West Africa Ghana?
Joycelyn: Initially, I was skeptical about joining it because involving in a pageant is a risk on its own; you may win or may not win. But my friends and people around me gave me all the encouragement and support, telling me I had what it takes to win, so I went for it.
Tnbgh:How do you shuffle between being a student and a beauty queen and a model?
Joycelyn:I plan my time very well and organize my plans such that the most important things are achieved first, in that order. I know when and when not to do something. I set my priorities right and plan accordingly. i normally plan ahead of time when I want to do a couple of things so they do not clash into each other.
Tnbgh:Do you have a role model? And would you mind telling us who your role model is, and why?
Joycelyn: Tyra Banks. She's hardworking and has achieved a lot in the fashion industry with which she's greatly imparting other people who want to get into the fashion industry. She has a great personality as well, which I believe helps one go places. Aside Tyra, I get motivation from women who have made it or are making it on the global scale.

Tnbgh :You have been spotted on some runways, how has that experience been and how far do you intend on taking it?
Joycelyn :I love runway modelling and I'm good at what I do. The experience is amazing for me. I intend taking it to the international level where I would not be just an international model, but an international supermodel. Dreams come true and with God on my side I know it will come true.
Tnbgh: Do you have any beauty regime that u follow and would you love to share?
Joycelyn:I exfoliate every once in awhile. I concentrate more on my face as it's the first contact on my body, this keeps my face and skin always clear.

Tnbgh: Do you think there’s a difference between a beauty queen and a model?
Joycelyn:Yes, there is. A model is usually used for advertisement purposes and often has the physical features, but a beauty queen goes beyond just physical beauty; it involves personality, intelligence, congeniality, courage, confidence, charity and many other qualities. A beauty queen is supposed to be a combination of all that. Having beautiful physical features is a plus. I'm fortunate to be a beauty queen and a model as well.

Tnbgh:brief us about Miss West African international and How will Ghanaians be able to help you win the coveted crown and bring it to
Ghana?
Joycelyn:
It's a beauty pageant involving the winners of all 15 ECOWAS countries with the inclusion of Sao Tome et Principe, Mauritania, Cameroon as well as Non-West African countries such as Germany, Portugal, US, UK. The winners from these countries come together to compete for the Miss West Africa International title.
* Ghanaians can support me with their prayers and encouragement. I've received tremendous support from a lot of Ghanaians already and I'm very grateful to them for that.

feel free to drop a comment or suggestion and dont forget to share .love Naa
